When you save water
- For Gwangju City
- First, we can save money for the source water as we have to purchase raw water from the Juam Dam because we don’t have sufficient water source.
- Second, we can reduce the cost for operation and maintenance of water treatment plant or wastewater treatment plant as the power cost and chemical cost are directly dependent on the amount of water produced or treated.
- Third, we can save the facility investment cost for the expansion of water treatment plant.

- You can save the sewer bill as well as the power bill for the heated water.
How can you save water?
In the Restroom

A quarter of water usage in homes is consumed in the bathroom.
If you install the water saving product or appliance and change the habits, you can save the water as much as you can.
- If water saving toilet tank is used you can save 50% of water, water saving device or bottle filled with water is used you can save 20%. You can also save by controlling the water pressure in the toilet tank or repairing any leak.
In the kitchen

When you do the washes or wash food such as vegetables, you can save water by using container without letting water run. In addition, the water saving in the kitchen also reduces the power cost as you save the heated water.
- By using washing-up bowl you can save 60%, 20% by attaching water spray, and 20% with installation of water saving tap.
In the bathroom

A quarter of water usage in homes is consumed in the bathroom. 15 minutes of running water amounts to about 180 liters, meaning you can conserve more water if you cut down on the time you spend showering.
- If you reduce shower time in half, you can save 50% of water. By replacing shower head with water saving type, save 40% and by using cup while brushing teeth, you can save 70% of water.
Doing laundry

Most widely used washing machine in homes is the one with 10kg capacity. Each household, composed with 4 members, mostly launders 3kg in an average per day using high water level and 1~2 extra rinse cycles. Investment of little effort and interest to alter one's habit can help to save a large amount of water.
- Save 30% of water by washing clothes together. By using proper size washer and appropriate water level, save 50%. You can also save 50% by proper cycles of rinse and recycle of final rinse water.
